Features a pressure control for superior painting results applying both thin and thick-bodied material. A removable hopper allows for quick and simple clean-up. Pressure selector can adjust the spraying pressure from 1000 to 2800 PSI. High pressure is ideal for thick latex paints while lower pressure is best for thinner materials. Low pressure is best when using the included roller arm accessory, which quickly turns into a interior rolling tool. The paint crew plus utilizes a powerful 2800 psi piston pump and comes complete with a 25 ft. hose and qualified- grade metal spray gun, hose hook and storage. ....read more

    Usability and reliability problems
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this product in order to spray paint our back fence, which I knew from encounter would be too tedious and time consuming to paint by hand. Sorry to say my encounter with it was quite disappointing.

In the first place, the unit stopped working properly after about 10 gallons of paint. The motor would run constantly (even when the hopper was full), and while I could get some spray from the gun the level of pressure was absolutely imperfect. Thinking that the unit was clogged, I emptied and cleaned all, per the directions, but the problem remained. There’s simply not enough pressure now to end the job (and by the way, my fence is only 1/2 painted). You can even hear the pressure escaping from the system when you turn the machine off, though there doesn’t seem to be a leak as there is no paint spilling out anywhere.

Secondly, even if the unit were working correctly I wouldn’t have been pleased with it, for two reasons. One, the variable pressure control switch isn’t really variable – it is either “low” or “max”. While you can set the dial to something in between, it won’t stay there. The vibration from the machine when the pump runs will slowly cause the pressure dial to go to the low setting. You can keep it at max if you want to (there’s a slight stickiness to the low and max settings), but anything in between will only last you a minute or so. This became a highly annoying problem since max pressure caused me too much overspray but low was absolutely imperfect.

Third, the hopper design is just terrible in my opinion. I felt like I was constantly having to stop and refill it, and it will only work until the unit has about a 1/2 gallon left in the hopper. There’s no way to see how much paint is left without opening the unit up, so you just have to guess – or wait for it to run out of paint.

I’m returning this unit and going to try the Wagner Pro Coat. That unit has an inlet tube that you stick directly into the paint can or bucket, so no more hopper filling. And hopefully it will last more than 10 gallons too.

    Time saver
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought one of these reconditioned and it is a time saver no doubt. I repainted my entire house in a weekend (not the trim, still have to do that by brush). This will save you a boatload of time. It’s not meant for more detailed work (such as above mentioned trim), but for wide swaths of painting.

Clean up can be a bit of a chore. It will take you about an hour to clean up, rinse and store the paint sprayer the first time you use it, but the more you do it, the more you get used to it. Eventually it will take you no time to rip this thing apart and get it cleaned and stored.

My advice is to read the directions very carefully. The directions are very excellent, but I can tell that many of the sour reviews about this product are due to people not reading the directions painstakingly.

No regrets on purchasing this here!

    Handiest Painter Ever Used
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Not bought thru Amazon since I was able to find it greatly cheaper in a local store. A bit leary due to the amount of time needed to set up and clean up. But really went well and quickly once I read and understood the directions. Used as a sprayer for the our one tale home. Initially did not prime using it due to some of the review comments of others who found that the primer paint clogged the machine. Huge mistake. Took us four days to hand prime compared to four hours to spray 1st finishing coat. Afterwards, loaded primer (Zinsser 1-2-3) and sprayed another project (lattice). No problems with machine handling the extra thick primer. Only problem was that the lid kept falling off as I went the machine. Since we are in the woods painting our cottage the open paint reservoir was at risk of collecting leaves and dirt. Would have given the machine five stars without that problem.

All in all a fantastic piece of equipment that does require some skill when using and care when loading and cleaning. A whole lot cheaper than hiring a service provider for the job.

    Fantastic roller, limited sprayer
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Please consider my opinion of what you are getting with the Paint Crew Plus as coming from a DIY homeowner .

You get a pump that can handle heavy paints. A tank that holds 2 1/2 gallons. A nice long hose, 25ft. A roller attachment and two roller covers (bonus roller covers are $5). A spray tip with two nozzles. A manual that should beyond doubt be studied before the machine is used.

I roller painted four bedrooms of a vacant home (and one is huge, larger than my living room) in about 2 1/2 hours. Clean up added another hour. While I was painting the service provider that was working on the kitchen remodel started asking me about it. I finished the first standard sized room in 25 minutes. I went to the second room and started painting. I overheard the service provider telling his helper he was thinking about getting one. I offered the service provider the chance to test it out. He painted half a wall in 5 minutes. He’s now going to get himself a pro quality power paint roller.

Sounds like a real bang-for-the-buck painting machine. But I’m giving it only four stars. I have also used the sprayer attachment, twice, and the machine comes up small here. BUY IT FOR THE ROLLER, NOT THE SPRAYER. My complaints about the sprayer are: 1) Paint utilization goes way up. I primed some outdoor play equipment, three gallons. Then I painted the same things with exterior paint, two gallons, without perfect coverage. I started to dislike the color so I repainted the same things by hand with brush and roller with only one gallon of a lighter color and got perfect coverage. Waste probably wouldn’t be so severe on something like a picket fence or the side of a barn. 2) Where did all that extra paint go? For a while I had white grass and shrubs. Painting this outdoor stuff was a test to see if I thought I could use the sprayer indoors. Either the sprayer is not excellent enough or I am not excellent enough, and I reckon both. 3) The spray pattern is not uniform. The machine has enough pumping power to spray exterior latex, but one side of the spray pattern was heavier. The spray tip is a simple screw on attachment and when the tip got messy there were even gaps in the spray pattern (to the credit of the sprayer, the tip can be cleaned in just a few seconds by flipping a lever to reverse the direction of the nozzle). I had used the sprayer first, before the roller, and at first felt I had wasted my money. But does anyone make a really excellent paint sprayer for this price?

Having used the roller now, I have no regrets about buying the Paint Crew Plus, but I paid only $139 for it. I reckon you can get it every day at home centers for about $180. For a homeowner, this is a speedy roller painter that adds a limited sprayer. If you’re thinking about getting a power roller, consider just getting a power roller without the sprayer. just be careful to get one that can pump heavy paints.

And now a cleanup tip. The tank has a spring loaded plunger valve at the bottom, with an o-ring that keeps fluids from leaking out the bottom of the tank. Part of cleanup is taking this apart and washing the paint out of it, a simple task. Sorry to say, when you do this you also wash off the lubricant from the o-ring. The result is the valve sticks and doesn’t close absolutely and fluids leak out. This must be a common problem because Wagner includes a small tool, with a storage compartment beneath the tank, for pushing the valve down when it gets stuck. When you mend the valve on the tank, be sure to apply some o-ring grease so that it doesn’t stick (get some from a plumbing supply store, don’t use Vaseline or regular grease, they can ruin the o-ring).

I bought this thing (Wagner 515010 Paint Crew Plus Paint Sprayer) to spray the ceilings in 2 condos (total of about 1600 square feet of ceiling). Used Zinsser primer and Dunn Edwards paint. Worked like a charm. 5 stars at this point. Spent the best part of the next hour cleaning the machine as per the directions. 4 stars at this point.

A few days later, with my family room prepared with plastic sheeting the world over, I sprayed the primer O.K. Still 4 stars. Then, nearly at the end of the first coat of latex, the machine started running continuosly with a marked drop in pressure. Down to 3 stars now.

I spent the next hour or so farfing around trying to get things going again but to no avail. Down to 2 stars. Gave up and finished the job by roller. And…we’re at 1 star.

Thankfully, I was able to return the unit for a refund. I certainly won’t be buying another Wagner!

    Excellent sprayer for the money
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It works pretty excellent for small jobs like, interior painting, painting furnitures and such, but don’t have enough power for whole house exterior painting. I don’t know, maybe if you try itty bitty at a time, you can end it after a month? Other than that, it does what it supposed to do. I use this one to pre-paint moldings, crown, base, casing and such. It comes with a roller attachment. It’s a wrist buster you might get arthritist or something. I’ve read “Smiley”‘s review. I can’t beleive what Wagner told her. To me it was all bull. There are no such a normal primer can clog up airless sprayer. I reckon she got the defective one. I use thick latex primer without thinning all the time without modification on sprayer. And I don’t reckon I’m considered lucky all the time. Another thing is the pail option. The built-in reservoir is excellent, but I’d like to have a direct paint pail suction option as well. You don’t want to keep on pouring 5gallon paint into small reservoir.

Bought this sprayer, read directions fully, Strained paint prior to filling hopper, spraying exterior valspar contractors grade paint flat on stucco, unit worked fine for the FIRST 3 gals. after that lost pressure in hose. motor kept pumping but no pressure. Cleaned filters, spray tips, called Wagner, repeat the process, no luck, called Wagner, cleaned exit valve, no luck, called Wagner, learned the exit valve is missing rubber gasket inside, the THICKNESS OF THE PAINT ruined the 5ยข gasket. Fantastic! Can I buy the gasket? NO! You have to replace the whole exit valve @ $13.-$20, and you have to buy paint conditioner $15 Gal. Unit will not spray .021 tip paint. HMMM why didn’t the directions question you (IE. HOMEOWNER, NOT SPRAY Qualified!!!)To check paint container and look for spray tip required for the paint you’re using???? BECAUSE WAGNER WANTS YOU TO HAVE THIS UNIT FAIL SO YOU WILL BUY THEIR PARTS TO FIX THE DAMN THING!!

    I’m pleased with it
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought the paint crew plus to ROLL the interior of my house. I have no intentions of using the sprayer, and I was able to buy the package deal at Home Depot that included the roller attachment.

So far I have used the Paint Crew on two different days and have a total of 7 gallons of Sherwin Williams interior Superpaint through it. The machine worked as intended and I did not have any problems.

I like the fact that the hopper will hold two gallons of paint. I like to buy my paint by the gallon, Sherwin Williams charges the same price for 1 gallon as they do for 5, and it is always cheap insurance to mix a couple of gallons of the same color together just in case when they tinted it, the color is off a small bit.

I had some especially tough areas to paint – I had one two tale wall near our central stair case. I really had to place a ladder on the landing and then one of those aluminum, extendable planks on a saw horse on the second floor. I then had to climb out on the plank to paint up near the top of the wall. It would not have been very simple with a traditional roller and pan, but the Paint Crew came through and I was able to paint this area honestly simple. I should add that the Paint Crew can really pump out the paint onto the wall. I never intended on just using the roller that comes with the machine. I also bought a top quality roller and cover and used it to “BACK ROLL” the areas that I had applied paint to with the Paint Crew. It would really go quick if you had two people but I finished up doing it myself. Back rolling insures that you get all the small goobers, drips etc out and lays down a uniform appearance with the knap – I rolled it all in one direction – from top to bottom. Also, the hose is a small stiff and it is very simple to get a run off the edge of the roller if you are holding it sideways. With back rolling, I didn’t worry about it – I did a section of the wall, back rolled it and went on.

Cleanup wasn’t that terrible and I was surprised that you can recover most of the paint that was in the line. I used latex paint and after emptying out the hopper, I filled it with hot water. You then pump the hot water through the line and it pushes out the paint back into the can. Once you see the paint starting to thin out, switch to another can or your sink and end cleaning it out.

Another thing when you paint using a bucket and pan, is that after awhile, the paint starts to dry out and your roller starts picking up these small pieces of dried paint. You end us seeing them on the wall and have to wipe them off. Didn’t have this problem with the Paint crew – didn’t have to wipe off a single spec.

Overall, I am very pleased with this buy. I may look into purchasing the swivel for the hose. Also, I am not sure at what point it is worth breaking it out – if you are only going to use about 1 gallon of paint, probably not worth it. Also, I don’t reckon I would use it if I didn’t plot on back rolling – the hose makes it just a small unwieldy to get that perfect end

    Worked Fantastic With Stain
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I was able to stain both sides of a ~250′ long wood fence and part of a deck in just a few hours. So much simpler than constantly refilling the small cup on a hand-held sprayer. The wheels allowed me to roll it around outside on grass and through weeds.

The vendor at Home Depot warned me that they do not stock the small Wagner maintenance parts (you need to order them from Wagner) so I will probably order some fine and coarse filters for future use and get a swivel for the spray gun.

One thing I noticed is that two tips come with the sprayer but neither is the 515 tip listed on the box and in the Home Depot ad so I’ll be calling Wagner tomorrow to get the tip they advertise as included with the sprayer. The photo on the box doesn’t show the paint roller attachment so I was pleasantly surprised to find it was included in the price of $189.

Be aware that some assembly is required. Also the owner’s manual has room for improvement. I did not see any conversation of tip selection based on the material being sprayed.

I was hoping to also use this for spraying latex paint but based on some of the reviews I may just use it for stain.

    Updated my opinion.

I bought this to paint the inside of a shop I built. I read through the manual and tried to use it. I was using a primer that I had thinned with water but it still clogged. After thinning and trying a couple more times and going through the process of cleaning the filter I finally called the store where I bought it. They said “oh ya!, you have a fine mesh filter you need a more coarse one.” I said what else. They said I should get a strainer for lumps that may be in the primer (there were no lumps in the strainer). So I made the 10 mile trip back to get the new filter that I thought should have been in the box where the manual was, the manual that made no mention of any of these problems. I installed the new filter and after a couple fake starts (I had to remove and clean or reseat the nozzle) I finally got it to work (for 2 walls). I was just getting the hang of it when the pump/motor died. I had even been willing to deal with the splatter drops ( I figured it was from the primer being so thinned out. But this was the final straw. I’m taking it back to get my money back. I would keep it to paint my house and stain my deck but too many other people have had too many hardware failures for me to take a chance. Worst tool encounter I’ve had.

8/23/08 This is an update. I returned the failed unit and after talking with the store personnel and Wagner Tech. Support I learned what I should have learned before using it the first time. You need to learn about filters/spray tips/paint and limits of the sprayer. This sprayer comes with a fine mesh 100 filter and a .015 inch tip. I found out the primer I was trying to spray requires a .021 inch tip and coarser 50 mesh filter.

These are available for the sprayer that is 2 models up from this one.

The Wagner guy said that my primer far exceeds the capability of the this sprayer. There are about a half dozen different tips for the Wagner sprayers and nearly as many filters. You have to match these to the paint and sprayer you have. If you don’t you will cause the sprayer to fail prematurely via motor failure, valve failure and poor routine. If the not compulsory tip size isn’t listed on the paint can, call the paint manufacturer and they will tell you what tip to use.

Bottom line, against everyone’s recommendations I bought a .021 tip and 50 mesh filter and some Wagner Paint Simple (excellent stuff), strained and thinned the primer and finished the job. It seemed to work fine but I was told the output valve life would be greatly reduced. The larger the tip size the harder you work the sprayer. I’m told you can drop in a new valve faily simple. Later I place on the top coats and it worked fantastic. It’s a excellent sprayer but not a do-all sprayer as the outside of the box would suggest and Wagner should definately educate the new owner via the manual about it’s limitations. I don’t reckon they mention anything about filters or tip sizes. I would now rate this sprayer at least 4 out of 5.

    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Yes it’s right, I should have listened to the reviews. Oh I thought I could learn from everyone’s mistakes and if I cleaned my machine out correctly I’d not have the problems others discuss. I was incorrect.

I have only used my Paint Crew once… for about 30 minutes, and then an essential part – (the inlet sleeve/inlet valve parts) broke. As it turns out this part cannot be replaced at your local Home Depot, you must contact Wagner itself to get it. I am furious. I did all by the book and yet this junk – and I do mean junk – fell apart on its first use.

I will NEVER buy another project from Wagner for as long as I live.

Do yourself a favor and go a different route.

I used this item new out of the box for a basement wall painting project. Setup and assembly were by the book with no problems. I painted for about an hour using 3 gallons of paint. It worked fantastic until the pump would not start again. There was no pressure in hose, and the pump would not restart. Hose was not stiff like it had been under pressure. I disassembled and tried several times to change pressure settings to and from prime. The motor would not restart. The terrible thing is I could not even get it to run to clean the nozzle or the hose. Basically the thing will become junk when the paint hardens in there. Wagner says I have to take it or send it to a repair center (over 2 hours away). Wagner will not send me a substitution even though it is less than a month ancient. I will try to return to store but I question how another one will be after reading all the mediocre reviews.

Bought this item and had high hopes that it would save me a ton of work repainting the house. At first it did as advertised but after a couple of gallons of latex enamel it took a dump and would not restart. I read the directions before starting and even added the flow additive but it still went south the first day. Too terrible cause it worked like a dream at first! Needless to say I returned it for a refund.

I bought mine from H0ME DEP0T for $189.00 and it’s worth every penny!

I sprayed two coats of VERY thick sealer on both sides of my fence as well as my neighbors fence in no time at all. I even had time to run back to H0ME DEP0T, buy more sealer, spray the neighbors deck, come back home, fire up the grill and relax! Only problem I ever encountered was the gun handle quit working on me. After taking it apart I realized I didn’t need to because it was as simple as a small pin that slid out. I slid it back in and this small problem only caused me about ten or fifteen minutes.

Someone mentioned buying a swivel tie for it. I did with out it but it’s a excellent thought and I too will be buying one for mine.

Lowest price I found was at H0ME DEP0T for $189.00

One reviewer said the motor ran non stop… If you mix your paint or what ever your spraying, carefull not to mix too quick or you may cause some small bubbles to form. It takes longer to compress air than it does liquid. I beleive the one terrible review was user error.

I just wanted to comment on how impressed I was with this sprayer. I just painted my deck, playset, and area/lattice under my storage building. Before I say anything else I just want to be sure you know a couple of issues that come with using any sprayer: 1. Longer prep/taping time (you want to cover more than you reckon you need to in order to protect surfaces from overspray) 2. Longer clean-up time (but not as much as I anticipated with as much as people talk about it) It took for just under four hours from the time I pulled in my driveway from work until I was back inside getting in the shower to paint all of the aforementioned surfaces. The pressure was very consisitent (just prime the line on a scrap first) and I had virtually no drips/runs. The sprayed surfaces were phenomenally smooth and the lattice and hand rail were painted in a flash. I carried a brush around with me in order to smooth out any runs/drips and only used it once or twice. I am not dissapointed with how much paint was used but for me I knew that spraying would use greatly more than rolling/brushing. (note: i have the roller attachment as well and imagine comparably fantastic results). As far as clean up goes i simply emptied the extra paint back into original container, sprayed out the paint hopper with water, flushed the lines with water, cleaned paint gun in a cleaning solution, and then ran a small amount of paint cleaner through the unit. One of my complaints was that the unit does not come with a swivel for the paint gun and since the line is very stiff (filled with paint and pressurized) it can be very tiring on your wrist to maneuver the line and irregularly unwind. I also would have prefered a tighter fitting lid to the paint hopper and a latch that secured the paint hopper to the unit (as it is it “snaps” in place). With all that said, none of these complaints affected my painting in any way, they would just give me a small piece of mind and comfort. If you are considering a paint sprayer I would have to recommend this one.

I have used Wagner paint sprayers in the past and was skeptical about buying this product online. The Wagner paint crew plus is the best thing I could have ever done. I painted the entire outside of the house in about 6 hours. It was simple to use and clean up. I’m extremely satisfied with my buy. I will recommend this product to all my friends and family. The only problem I had with it was the hose is very inflexible, but this was worth the distress due to the ease of setup, use, and cleanup. There was no spitting which I had problems with in the past with other handheld sprayers. Plus I didn’t have to add any thinner to the paint to flow properly.

Thank you for a fantastic product

I’ll be returning my sprayer to Lowes today, I have a half completed bathroom cabinet job and really upset. All started as stated in the manual. I filled the hopper, primed and off the the races. Was able to spray latex paint on the cabinets on my side of the sink and the drawers. OK, over to my wife’s side, I stated with no problem, all went find until I ran out of paint. I filled the hopper with another 1/2 gallon of paint, primed again and sprayed for 2 seconds before cutting off. The Crew Plus stopped pumping paint, the return hose didn’t even return paint while on PRIME. I followed information, used the tool to make sure the inlet port is not stuck, tried again. Just the motor running. I disassembled the inlet port, cleaned all still the same thing.

I should have taken heed from the Wagner Paint Crew, I’ve seen these refurbished models in different places. I will stick to manual rolling, I’ll prob have to rent a sprayer to end my cabinets. With 4 more rooms to go. Really upset.

I do not recommend this product if you plot on using primer. I followed all the information step by step, poured in Killz primer, spayed three strokes, and then it clogs. I could never get the machine to prime again. I tried cleaning all, but it never primed again. Even if I could get the machine to prime again, I wouldn’t want to water down my paint, like some suggest.

Needless to say, I took it back and spent an extra $70 and got a much better product.

Maybe this product works well with regular latex paint, but I do not recommend primer.

My husband and I are building/subcontracting our new house so we elected to be the painters! Everyone had told us to get a painter sprayer to prime all the walls with so we chose to get this model- not too cheap not too expensive. The priming went fantastic and very quick! We were priming the upstairs(1300+ sq ft) and i would say i had done it all in less than an hour. The one complaint i had was that the hose that is connected to the paint supply if went too much(which obviously it is while painting)will come lose and spew paint The world over! You have to be quick to shut the thing off or you have a HUGE mess. The next day we were going to paint ceilings in the same area. Some people had told us to definately roll the flat ceilings for better coverage–we did the first coat rolling and it took us about 7 hours. Our arms were very sore –the next day we had to apply the secong coat and the thought of having to roll it again was dreadful! We chose to give the sprayer a try…i sprayed the second coat on the ceiling in about 20 mins.!!!! And it looks just as excellent as the rolled did and our arms weren’t sore. Again the only complaint i had is this time either the nozzle cam loose and sprayed paint or the attachment to the paint holder. We got real excellent at turning the machine off. The mess didn’t matter to us b/c we have nothing but bare floors to cover up but this could be a real problem for others. I just read another review that said the same thing but he got it to stop by tightening the nuts with a wrench, i will definately give this a try before we do our trim this weekend! What a lifesaver- i do agree with others to read directions carefully- i did and i reckon that is why we had small problem- clean up takes a while but that comes with the territory:)

I have an acre property with a wood rail fence around the perimeter. It needed to be repainted this year and I started doing the project by hand and quickly realized that it was going to take forever. So the wife and I went down to Lowes and bought this thing. I went through 8 gallons of latex paint and got the whole fence done in one Saturday. I was previously paranoid about paint sprayers and how easily they clog. This thing didn’t clog once and did the whole job without an problems. I even let it set for a half-hour at a time and I would pick it back up and it just kept spraying. I would recommend goggles and an ancient hat if spraying outside in any type of wind. Cleanup was simpler than I expected. Lots of warm, soapy water and she cleans up like a dream.

Let me tell you about my day yesterday. I started painting our 150+ feet of gothic top picket fence with a brush and roller. It took me two and a half hours to paint one 8-foot section and a gate, both sides, two coats. I sat on the steps and thought, this is miserable. By 3:30 that afternoon, I was happily setting up my new Wagner Paint Crew. At 6:00 I had finished spraying the entire fence on both sides. I made a quick trip to the store to buy more paint, and by 8:00 I had finished a quick second coat on all I had painted, PLUS I had also painted all of my white wicker lawn furniture. And it all looks Fantastic. One of my neighbors really came over and said it looked like I had replaced the fence with one of the new solid color vinyl ones. (Really, I reckon it looks better than vinyl.) This machine is incredible. Here’s why:

    1. You pour the paint directly into a hopper– It holds a gallon+ at a time–and you don’t have to dilute It. My fence project used a latex solid color stain, but the directions say you can use oil based paints and stains as well.

    2. The unit maintains pressure as well as an air compressor would. The high quality sprayer nozzle delivers a micro-aerosolized output that covers perfectly. No runs, drips, or missed spots–and it lays down a ton of paint with every pass.

    3. Standby mode: If you have a wet cloth and a ziplock baggie for the spray nozzle, you can place this sprayer away for up to 16 hours without worrying about the paint hardening. Now THAT is a blessing. No more cleaning your sprayer if you have a job that lasts more than a day!

This sprayer literally saved me. It would have taken a month of weekends to accomplish what I finished in one day with the Wagner Paint Crew.

    A few things to consider:

The amount of overspray is formidable. In my case, I was painting a picket fence, so there was a lot of open space in between what was catching the paint. If you’re in this situation, my advice is to wear a hat and sunglasses. Without realizing it, I wound up with so much overspray in my hair my kids said I looked like a small ancient lady with white hair!

Make sure you read the lessons book before you start. Yes, it may look self explanatory, but there are a few things in there you have to know before you hit the ON button. In my case, this involved specific directions for using TWO wrenches to tighten the fittings. You really need to do this, because the machine puts out a lot of pressure. (My first 1/2 gallon went on the ground at the hopper because of this).

Don’t underestimate the amount of paint this thing will use to complete a project — and there is some waste. I used a full seven gallons of undiluted paint. It’s excellent that you can leave it without cleaning it while you make a run to the store, but it’s better if you don’t have to.

Buy the optional swivel attachment. It’s a must have.

Make sure you go all that you don’t want paint on, like your mailbox, gate hardware, THE DOG… There’s nothing selective about the spraying process. If it’s in front of your nozzle, it’s going to get painted.

I haven’t used the roller that came with the machine, but I can tell you that I would NOT attempt to spray anything indoors with the sprayer. It’s not like using a can of spray paint. Also, this unit isn’t for small jobs. It’s made to handle one gallon after another. All day long.

    Wagner Paint Crew Plus Delivers…Paint
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I didn’t need it for spraying, but for rolling, and it worked fantastic for that. I was priming my newly scraped and textured ceilings, which were really sucking up paint, and it was taking forever. I wanted something that would deliver paint to my roller without me having to return to the tray for more paint. I debated whether to get a low end qualified machine or a high end Wagner and I eventually finished up with this…half the price.

I hesitated because of the Wagner Paint Crew…non plus version. Reports of needing lots of paint in the hopper to work properly, long cleanup procedure, and reliability issues. I figured that this unit addressed the problem of needing lots of paint in the hopper by the new design; which it did (it was pretty much down to the bottom before it sucked in air). And then I figured that those who didn’t complain about the reliability were complaining about the clean up. In other words, those who didn’t clean, had issues on the later use.

As far as clean up goes, it went well. Yes it takes awhile, but not more than expected. You need to be able to follow information; at least the first time. After getting used to the machine, all seemed to make sense. Just be prepared to read the directions…for both setup and cleaning.

What could use improvement? Well, my roller attachment that came with the unit was a bit out of round. It was a small bit bulged in the middle, which made putting the paint down a small more hard. Many people also complained about needing a swivel attachment on the gun handle. I took their word for it and bought one just to be on the safe side; and yes, it is a must have (~$25).

    Last thoughts/summary.

    -Read manual

    -Spend time to cleanup.

-I didn’t use the spray nozzle…just the roller.

-Excellent for large area. Small area isn’t worth the clean-up time.

    -Would highly recommend
