Take care of heavy-duty painting projects efficiently and easily with the Fuji Manufacturing Spray Equipment 3004 Q4 PRO Silent 4-Stage HVLP Spray System. • Non-bleed spray gun for better efficiency and less air havoc.
  • Durable, flexible hose--even when cool.

Includes All You Need--Just Add Paint
The Fuji Q4 PRO Spray System has all you need--just add paint to get started. The system includes a turbine, spray gun with cup, 25-foot hose with quick-connect, air control valve, user manual, viscosity cup, wrench, and cleaning brush.

Powerful but Silent 4-Stage Turbine
This spray system is equipped with the Fuji Q4 PRO Silent turbine, which features the powerful Ametek-Lamb Electric 4-stage turbine motor type #119292. This innovative technology provides extra pressure, which results in less thinning of paint, making it simpler to do heavy-duty paint jobs more efficiently and effectively. Fuji has been able to reduce the noise level of the Q4 PRO Silent turbine by over 50 percent, eliminating the need for ear safeguard and reducing worry about hearing loss.

Non-Bleed Spray Gun with High-Efficiency Aircap for Better Routine
The included Fuji XT-2 Spray gun is non-bleed, which means that air passes through the spray gun only when the trigger is pulled, so there is less paint build-up on the fluid nozzle tip, less blowing of shop dust, and less havoc in the spray area.

The Aircap features a design that provides a cleaner spray pattern. The result is less overspray and mist in the air. You can buy bonus Aircaps, and different Aircaps are color-coded, so it is simple to select the one you need.

Save Time with the Conveniently Located Air Control Valve
While other spray systems include controls on the turbine, Fuji has installed the air control valve right at your fingertips, so you can quickly and easily reduce overspray and bounceback.

Hose Stays Flexible for Many Years
The included Fuji Hi-Flex hose is designed to stay flexible regardless of temperature for many years. If you've used the typical solid plastic hoses that come with most HVLP turbine systems, you'll really appreciate the maneuverability and ease-of-use of the Hi-Flex hose design.

The Fuji Q4 PRO HVLP Turbine Spray System is backed by a two-year parts and labor warranty.

    Excellent

I like this thing. Though I’ve only used it for stain, it works really nicely. I have yet to use it for thicker finishes. It sounds like a canister vacuum while running. Not very loud at all.

I would have given this 5 stars if it were not for these minor but annoying issues.

    Terrible

    1) If used as a portable machine, the plug pops out of the blower unit easily while moving it. There should be some sort of twist lock type of plug so this wouldn’t ever happen. The model I have uses computer power cord and that’s just asking for distress in my opinion. If used outside in cool weather, the power cord stiffens up.

    2) If used in cool weather, the sprayer hose is initially very stiff but loosens up as the unit warms it with use. In fact it gets so warm and soft that it will bend very easily at the tie to the sprayer unit. The strain relief used on the hose is too soft and will bend with the hose. I can see this as being a problem down the line and it should be addressed.

I bought the Fuji a few years ago and have used it for cabinets, furniture and any other product I build. I have used it to spray shellac, latex, waterborne finishes, lacquer and stain and found it more than adequate for all. Fuji support is as excellent as it gets over the phone.

    Poor quality end
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this item about two years ago hoping it would spray lacquers. The end quality was poor with the standard tip that came with the gun. I called the company and they called me back telling me I should thin the lacquer by 25%. I have used other spray guns (all with a compressor)and never had to thin the product I am using (at least not by as much as 25%). I have played with the controls and various amounts of thinner and have finally given up. It now sits in the corner of my shop as an expensive lesson – don’t buy a tool unless you know someone who personally recommends it. I gave it two stars because the company called me back.

I recently bought the Fuji 4 stage HVLP spray system after shopping many different systems. I was initially suspect of likely quality and routine because of the comparatively modest price of the system. As I researched the system I found consistently excellent reviews all over the internet. I bought the system about a month ago and have been very pleased. I have sprayed dye stains/shellac and water based poly finishes so far with top results.

A note about service; in my initial order, a component piece, a valve, was missing from the order. I called Fuji, and they shipped the part that day overnight mail. I received it the next day. I am a satisfied customer

I’ve had the Q4 since 2003 and have been very pleased with it. It even does a fantastic job spraying latex with the #5 needle set.

I agree with all of the comments here, and want to pay a special complement to Fuji’s wonderful technical support and responsive customer service.

Yet Another Die Hard Fuji Customer…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Several months ago I happened upon this site and started reading all these remarkable reviews about the Q4 Pro. I really wasn’t in the market for an expensive sprayer but I’ve always been frustrated, when working on household projects, when it came to the painting. I started looking into sprayers that would be a quality tool but didn’t bankrupt my shoulder bag.

By the time I got thru half of these reviews, I was sold. Bought the Q4 Pro, the mini cups, and the whip hose. To be honest, I was felt a small foolish in buying a qualified sprayer at a price I really wasn’t prepared to spend at the time.

    No matter.

Since I’ve begun using my Q4, I’ve felt absolutely vindicated in my choice. My first project was the finishing of the month long renovation of our original double hung windows. I did take me some time getting used to the thinning process, and for a few hours thought maybe this was a mistake. So, recall what I’d read about owner of Fuji, I called the 800 number and left a message. He called back promptly (missed his call) but he left me a long and detailed message on what I could do to fix my problem. I still struggled with the thinning problem, so I wrote him an email on Friday night and really only expected a response on Monday. Later that evening, I got a return email with more information that fixed the problem! What a guy!

And my ancient windows now look as excellent as I’ve imagined they could look. This gives me so much more confidence when looking at other projects that I’ve been putting off. I work as an artist, so my standards tend to be pretty high, and this sprayer makes my work look excellent!

The Fuji Q4 Pro is an outstanding product, backed by an even more outstanding company. It’s a perfect sprayer for the qualified or a just novice like myself. If you choose to get this, you will not be disappointed.

Today, when some companies charge by the minute to talk to an agent who may be located in a foreign land, I find it refreshing and wonderful to be able to communicate directly with the CEO of the company free of charge.

When I employed the screen strainer on the feed tube of the Fuji spray gun no paint would emit from the nozzle. I had to switch to a nylon bag strainer on the feed pipe. I pointed out my minor problem to Fuji Spray in a weekend e-mail and heard from CEO Paul Smith in just hours. He promptly sent me substitution parts via expedited shipment at no charge. The parts cured the problem so I could use the screen strainers. That was a class act in my book.

My first HVLP system came with a bleeder spray gun. The Q4 comes with a non-bleeder gun and I find that such a gun suits me better than a bleeder gun. I worry less about kicking up dust or other foreign matter.

I’ve been a cabinetmaker for 20 plus years now and got to tell you I never look forward to the finishing end of things, for many reasons having to do with spraying from my air compressor, over spray, too much paint on , not enough paint on, not where I want it,etc etc…I believe with a small more knowlege in the waterboure poly I’m spraying I could achieve perfection with this sprayer.. ITS real Quality, finally something not cheaply made. The gun itself is real simple to use and simpler to clean.. I’ve only had this Q4 for about 3 weeks now and am spraying a huge library job of 8ft tall bookcases..I’m just not there with the viscosity of the product yet. I’m using cabot semi gloss waterboure poly.want to use a oil base product instead but I’m in a basement and the smell would kill me.. it s a real balance of all the settings just right. but fun and simple to play with them, all is right at your hands.. I read all the reviews and ther all right you definetly need the whip hose and the cup set along with the number 3needle set if your going to spray water based materials.. also glad I got the Q4 and not the mini cause the sound is so much lower and to me nearly a soothing hummmm.. on them long projects it really pays off.guess my only griff was the price and assesories that I feel should have came with it.but when ya get a quality tool like this it does not hurt so much to place out for the assesories.I highly support this sprayer to all both novice and professonal.

I’m no qualified and it’s taken me a bit to get the techniques down, but rather than buy all new kitchen cabs and brush paint all of our wainscotting, crown, columns, and casings I took my hand at spraying. I read the reviews and have had the Q4 for about 6 mths now and feel I made the right choice. I have nothing to compare it to, but can’t imagine an simpler to use device. My brother and I went in together to afford the price and bought the addtional 6′ whip hose too(the cabinets and base board would have be hell if I hadn’t.) I’ve only had one component break on me and that was the plastic air control valve between the hose and gun. Fortunatley Fuji was smart and made the components simple and simple to replace… rather than wait on shipped parts, I replaced it with exact same valve from Depot but this time in brass and it’s worked perfectly. With the oil based paints I do need to thin a small, but most of the work I’ve not thinned at all. Everyone thinks we bought all new cabinets and w/ the glaze we place on them it’s really better than what we could’ve bought. I reckon though before I start on more built-ins and trim, I may switch to the gravity fed cup that will make painting in those hard to reach areas a bit simpler. Props to Fuji for allowing us to switch cups as well as hose connections from bottom to back of gun… this equiment is so versatile. Oh and definetly silent, since my buy I’ve heard the some other turbines runs (no evaluation!)

I have had the Q4 system for about two years and am extremely please with the quality of the tool, the quietness of the system and the incredible support I have received from Paul Smith at Fuji and Roger Phelps at [...] from whom I bought the system.

I bought the Q4 based on web reviews, write-ups and word-of-mouth. Not being a qualified finisher, I had/have plenty of finishing questions of which many are not addressed in books or online forums. Paul and Roger have been very polite and prompt in answering my questions via email and phone. I don’t recall getting such fantastic service from any other outfits in the past twenty years.

The following is some information that may help newbies like me reduce their learning curve when spraying latex (Benjamin Moore Impervo):

I don’t do a lot of spraying so the simple-to-use Fuji system was right for me. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a learning curve. Being very picky about my finishing results, I found it desirable to do a honest amount of testing of various dilutions of my primary end which is latex paint. Lately, I’ve been using Benjamin Moore’s Impervo (satin). I have a “mock” spray booth set up in my garage (lots of plastic). Where I live in California, the temperatures now (late November) vary between 68-73 degrees once I have warmed the garage a bit with a heater and lights (make sure you have plenty of excellent lighting including a couple of low lights that will make it simple to see dust and other defects in the thing being finished. Humidity is at 20-40 percent. The needle/nozzle that works well for me is the number four (but I have also had excellent results with the number three needle/nozzle). The aircap is turned about one-quarter turn counterclockwise from closed and the fluid control is turned 1.5 turns cc from closed. The air flow is fully on and the mesh fluid filter is removed (though it would probably be okay to use it as my dilution). I use the vertical spray pattern as not compulsory. The doors that I’ve been painting recently are lying down horzizontally (rather than standing up vertically).

I dilute the paint in this ratio: 2 cups paint, 3 ounces distilled water and 3 ounces of XIM flowout solution (XIM was not compulsory by the BM dealer for Impervo (acrylic enamel) rather than Flotrol). Note, this dilution is a lot higher than not compulsory by Ben Moore as well as the citations on the XIM bottle. Nonetheless, the viscosity is excellent, flowout is excellent and orange peel is not much of a problem though, having come close, I have yet to achieve a glass-smooth paint end. Any suggestions are very welcome. The high dilution may work well for me due to the relatively low humidity level.

Prepping your object to be finished is more than half the job. Sanding to 220 grit is not excellent enough (for me) as the scratch marks are clearly visible through, at least, the first two or three relatively thin coats of paint. You will save time in the end by sanding to at least 320 grit if not 400 grit. Random orbital sanders will leave the telltale squirly marks if you don’t hand sand them out to at least 320 grit or if you don’t use a better finishing sander than the ancient Dewalt random orbital sand I use; which probably isn’t a excellent example of a right finishing sander. But that’s another issue.

Dust nibs in the end seem to be an issue that every finisher must deal with. I have a minor problem with dust nibs despite having a excellent Jet air filter (AFS-100B) hanging from the garage ceiling and plastic all around for a make-shift spray booth. I tack cloth and lightly blow off dust prior to mixing my paint and again just before I paint. (I do a first blow-off before I mix the paint to allow for airborne particles to make it to the air filter.) If I see a large piece of dust in the just-sprayed paint, I quickly remove it with tweezers and let the paint flow out into the void left by the small tweezers. Dust nibs are gently sanded out between coats using 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper between coats. A vacuum hose is always in my non-sanding hand to suck up the sanding dust and to brush off the sandpaper to minimize “loading”.

Cleaning the Fuji gun is very simple and quick. Compared to the new Apollo gun that I recently saw at a wood show (Nov. 2007), the Fuji XT gun is simpler and quicker to take apart. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

I hope some of this helps. Either way, you won’t regret buying a Fuji sprayer!

    Regards,

    Andy Aronson

I bought this sprayer to spray paint as well as polyurethane and stain. So far I have sprayed both latex paint and polyurethane. The sprayer performed fantastic. It took a small playing with to get the adjustments right, but once set it worked fantastic. Cleanup is simple and the components are honestly reachable. The sprayer does sound like a moderate shop vac while running and I am glad I bought the silent model. I recommend this unit to anyone looking for a small all in one spray rig.

    Brilliant HVLP Sprayer!!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this unit about 2 years ago when we were building our house. I used it to spray all the interior trim and doors with latex paint. I thinned the paint about 10% and added a flow control additive. The flow additive was mainly because I did most of the spraying in 85+ degree F weather and I didn’t want the paint drying too quickly. The Q4 system worked amazingly well. The controls on the gun are fantastic. You have total control with the spray pattern, the amount of material applied, and the atomization air pressure. Using a piece of scrap wood, you can really dial this sprayer in and lay a nice coat of paint. Several of the sub-contractors commented on the qualified looking end on my interior doors. They couldn’t believe some lowly homeowner painted them.

Two accessories that I strongly suggest purchasing are the whip hose and the 3-cup mini set. The whip hose give much greater flexibility while spraying. I used the mini cups for small jobs. The came with caps, so you can leave the paint in the cup and cap it off so it doesn’t dry out.

I did much research into HVLP systems before deciding on the Fuji Q4. A amalgamation of positive reviews, price and available accessories factored into my selecting the Q4. If you are thinking of spraying latex at all, don’t settle for anything less than a 4-stage turbine. Spend the money and delight in the quality. I am very impressed and pleased with this product.

This system it top of the line. Not only it performs very well but it is “relatively” silent. I use it mainly to spray water based end. For that I use the cap#3 (not provided in the kit). The results are brilliant and my piece of furniture have now a qualified look.

The citations is a small hard to follow but the leraning curve was extremely small.

Contrary to the picture, the unit is now blue (I though they shipped me the incorrect unit at first).

I also recommend taking the flexible hose, it definitvely remove some weight from your hands.

    Overall an brilliant investment.

I received my Q4 neatly packed and exactly as the manufacturers described. I have used standard air spraying equipment before and I reckon I will never use it again. The Q4 was about the simplest to use high end piece of equipment I ever bought. Even the quide for obtaining proper viscosity was on the money. The spray pattern variations were perfect and the ability to adjust the volumn of paint prevented runs–all in all this thing works fantastic. My first use was spraying a set of cabinets I built and I used latex with the #4 needle–that worked excellent. The only negative is for the price I reckon fuji should supply all the nozzles.

    Top of the line HVLP
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have huge plans for this unit, mostly in the furniture finishing projects. So far, I have only shot oil based stains, polys and a mixture of the two. The system is outstanding and proved so superior to my high pressure sprayers. You have total control with the spray pattern, the amount of material applied, and the atomization air pressure. The noise is about the same as my indoor canister vac and much quiter than my wet/dry vac.

The class neglected to say that you need two critical accessories. Get the #3 AirCap or you will spray too much oil based material. You must also get the whip hose if you want to apply a smooth pattern. I also bought the 3 cup mini set and use this most often. The small size cups are quite adequate for most of my spraying needs.

I also have a HVLP conversion gun that uses a high pressure compressor but performs somewhat like an HVLP system. At 1/20 of the price of this system (if you have the compressor), it is very usable competitor for oil based materials. I have not compared the two systems with water based products.

I have owned this unit for over a year now and like it. I wanted a convenient and portable spray system to use in my garage and as well in customers homes. There was a learning period going from compressed air we use at my work to this system but through trial and error (and learning to spray light build coats) I feel I get just as excellent a end as the shop. I bought the smaller needle and cap set and use that to shade with and to spray water based lacquer. The manufacturing garden hose takes getting used to but I bought the 6′ whip hose and find it to be very handy. This is an brilliant HVLP system, the gun is very simple to clean and only had to change my gaskets and bleeder hose once. I would recommend getting as much information on the dainty product you will be spraying either by website of web forums, and perform sample tests with every new product.

I spent a lot of time researching types of sprayers and manufacturers prior to purchasing the Q4. Reading these online reviews coupled with the discounts swayed me to purchasing this unit through Amazon.

I must say… this was a fantastic choice. The sprayer is simple to use and has fantastic results. Even better than that, the after buy support was brilliant. Based on the online reviews, I bought the 6 foot flex hose and made the mistake of attaching it directly to the turbine. The turbine runs hot and the hose malfunctioned. I emailed the manufacturer at 5:00PM EST on Saturday and had an email resonse within two hours.

I have outfitted my entire shop through Amazon over the last 5 years and this is the best support I have ever received.

I recommned the product and the company.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have used the Q4 to spray polyurethane, stain, oil-based enamel, and latex with excellent results. The poly and stain left very smooth end that is superior to anything you can do with a brush. The latex and enamels are a bit more hard to work with as one has to thin these to the right viscosity to flow well, but not too much or they run. It just seems to take some practice… If you are just doing huge latex painting work like sides of houses, get an airless sprayer instead.

The controls on the gun are fantastic – you can set for hoz or vertical fan, or even a circular shape which is ideal for touch up. You can adjust paint feed rate and air flow also. All of these controls are a bit confusing at first, but once you use it for a while, you find that they allow you to really fine tune the tool to get the best end.

The customer support is incredible! Every time I have contacted Fuji, I have gotten a prompt (< 1 day) response from the CEO himself. They have air mailed me a new cup assembly when mine had a slight defect and have provided detailed answers to many technical questions.

This is a quality tool from a quality company that stands behind their product.

It is really fantastic to see when a product is designed exactly to do the job it is intended for. This system is simple, strong and produces exquisite results. Moreover, it is simple and quick to clean, time after time. It is meant to be re-used day after day, and has already proven itself after a month of use.

I have only used oil-based paints (Benjamin Moore), and have thinned them by around 25%. This seems a lot to the uninitiated, but rest assured the results are superb. Spend time with some scrap wood, playing with the adjustments to get the flow and spread as you need it. Any orange peel effect, just thin it some more. Simple. Get the Silent version – it is categorically worth it, and the noise level resembles that of a (silent) vacuum cleaner. My only minor gripes are the fact that the 6ft whip hose does not come standard (I have never used the standard hose – it is long, rigid and heavy) and the standard paint reservoir is alumin(i)um. When using oil based paints (especially bright white) the tarnish from the alumin(i)um ever-so-slightly can affect the paint if not rubbed categorically clean first. Other than that, I use the mini-cups a lot (again, nice if they were standard) which are fantastic for small jobs. Spend the money and delight in the quality. I am very impressed and pleased with this product.

becomes a bit of a entertainment. I plot on changing mine soon

    2. Expensive – I got what I paid for so it’s not truly a
    complaint

Overall I would give this product a 4.5 rating if I could. I’m very satisfied with this product

A fantastic product and Brilliant service

Whatever happened to my first review of this product? I can not find it anywhere and I wanted to spread the message about Fuji very much!

I bought a Fuji Q4 about 3 weeks ago and after having waited for long because of a delay in manufacturing due to the release of the new XT Non Bleeder type gun that comes standard with all new Fuji Q3 and Q4 systems.

I opted for the Q4 because for a relatively small difference in price you simply get the most powerful turbine in the market. It is a 4 stage turbine made right here in America. Fuji manages to place this monster in a very steardy black metal case and the system is claimed to be 50% quieter than the competition. Comparing it to a Turbinare unit I was thinking to buy I really agree with Fuji’s claims.

The unit came in a steardy box but to my dismay the plastic fitting that connects the hose to the turbine was broken. In addition to this, the 6 foot Flex hose I had ordered to come with my unit did not show up either.

A simple call to Fuji and a couple of days later I received a box with the Flex hose, a new plastic fitting and a quick coupling greetings of the company. I was also informed that
I would be receiving a new metal fitting as soon as they are available.

I highly recommend any new buyer to get this Flex hose as it really makes spraying a pleasure w/o the burden of the huge rubber hose that comes standard with the unit. By the way, my unit also came with the small plastic cups I bought as an bonus option and a pack of spares like cup seals and bonus strainers.

I used my Fuji to spray 26 restaurant chairs for a friend who is openign up a new restaurant and the unit performed much better than I had anticipated. That time I used the plastic cups only because I had to spray between chair legs and I needed the smaller size of the spray sytem. The end was as impecable as I ever had using a spray system and with an ease of conntrol I never felt using my compressor powered NON HVLP sprayer. It is such a different encounter to have your paint go where you itnend it and STAY there instrad of the mess that a high pressure sustem makes. After spraying the 26 chairs I pretyt much walked away from the job with no paint stuck on me or my clothing.

The next day I had to spray some booths for the same friend and I tried to use the metal cup that comes with the system. Sorry to say, I could not make the gun achieve an excellent seal and since it is pressurized the paint was oozing out from it. I went back to the plastic cups and finished the job w/o a problem.

Having contacted Fuji again I was told they will be sending me a newer make of a cup and hopefully this problem will also be solved. Please note that since the XT gun and cup assembly is new for Fuji and I guess some problems had to be anticipated. The point here is that the manufacurer is simply Incredible in responding to comments and lightning quick in taking care of any problems you may have. You get to talk to Paul, the owner himself (not some clerk that could not give a darn about anything) and this guy even responds messages on weekends!

I give the Fuji Q4 a round 5 star for routine even with the few mishaps I had with it. It is super silent, super powerful, super the theater and it is backed up by what I feel is the best customer service I have ever encountered in my 15 years of buying wood working equipment from various huge name manufacturers like Delta, Powermatic, Bosch etc. These guys could learn something about customer service from Fuji.

I give Fuji a 4 star for quality control but again, the outstanding service they offer prety much decides it for me: Fuji is an absolute winner! DO NOT buy another HVLP spray system until you try a Fuji first. Highly not compulsory.

Fantastic sprayer, I am very pleased

I have had this unit about 10 months now and I am very pleased with it. My goal, in general, was to get a sprayer with the following features/functionality:

-spray fine finishes such as lacquer and water borne finishes
-also spray thin stains as well as rare latex and oil-based paints
-variable air pressure for more control
    -spend less than $1,000

This unit has satisfied those goals very well. The variable air control is really a must, in my opinion, otherwise I cannot adequately control the atomization. This air control works very well on this unit. It does not vary the motor speed, but varies the flow through the hose with a convenient control located at the gun handle – you can vary the flow as you work and fine tune it without having to run back to the compressor unit to make adjustments. I just turn the unit on and then make all the adjustments at the gun.

This unit sprays all have tried very well: thinned lacquer, straight stains and dyes, latex paint (with Flotrol), and slightly thinned oil base paint. The finishes are extremely smooth.

Once I have the air and fluid controls set for a given project, the amount of overspray is really remarkably small. Although it is possible to make a lot of overspray, that usually means the air control is set to high.

The unit is very simple to clean – usually I just run solvent through the gun after every coat. Then painstakingly clean the needle and nozzle after the project.

A bonus for me is the sound level of the unit – it is really very low – it is like a mid range “whoosh” . Beyond doubt not a loud unit at all. I find that once I have all adjusted and start spraying, I do not even pay attention to the sound of the unit at all. I be with you that some other brands have very grating noise levels. Not so here.

I also appreciate the manufacturer’s after sale support. Very helpful. I also bought (from Fuji direct) the 6 foot whip hose and the set of small plastic cups for small jobs. The whip hose is very light and I find it very helpful in direction in my small spray area.

I have been pleased with the needle/nozzle amalgamation which came with the unit, although my guess for the majority of my lacquer work, the #3 nozzle would work fine also.
